Modified NovaKids plan:

Parents will start checking their children off upon arrival. Novakid school reviews volunteers will manually check-in students (parents will not touch the iPad) under the children’s tent in the square. We ask that all parents ensure that their children use the toilet prior to commencing the service in order to minimize the need to use the toilet during lessons.

The children will stay with their parents during worship and will be released from the family lawn on the lawn to line up on marked, socially remote lines on the sidewalk with Novakid review leaders. Like all Nova people, children and leaders will need to wear face covers when moving from place to place. 

Novakid school review leaders will escort the children to the northern parking lot (behind the worship center), where two socially separated circles of chairs will be set up. The area where the children meet will be blocked from potential car traffic by volunteer vehicles. Most of our summer gatherings in this area are likely to be sunny. Please plan accordingly by applying sunscreen and considering sending your child with a hat.

The leaders will divide the children into two age groups and tell each child where to sit. Each child will receive a wrapped bag of supplies, including a pencil and an activity book, to be distributed by leaders. One leader will teach each group. We expect 6 to 10 children in each group. Once the children and leaders are seated, it is permitted to remove the face covering as long as social distancing is maintained. However, any child or teacher who would prefer to wear a face-covering at all times can do so. If a NovaKids teacher needs to navigate in a child’s six-foot bubble, she will surely cover her face.

 

Ministry of Children leaders assessed and purchased a small group Bible teaching program that Novakid review leaders will use to conduct a short Bible lesson and then guide students through the accompanying activities. If your child has a personal Bible to bring to our lessons, that would be great. All activities are performed while seated. We expect the lessons to continue throughout the sermon (approximately 20-25 minutes). After the service, parents will walk down the sidewalk and pick up their children.

Parents will be directed to stay on the sidewalk in front of the nursery and the youth room, and children will be called from their places upon their parents’ arrival. Again, we will all be following Nova’s policy of covering our face when moving from place to place.

When students go to a meeting with their parents, they put their labeled bag in a box for use next week.
